Noise suppression
With Voximplant you can add a bidirectional noise suppression from Hush.
Hush noise suppression is currently in beta and temporarily not billed. Billing will automatically apply once the feature officially launches.
While you can add it to common calls, this is extremely useful with AI-connectors as an addition to VAD / TURN detection. This setup helps to talk with an AI naturally and avoid false interruptions.
Usage
To use the noise suppression:
Create a
Hush.NoiseSuppressioninstance viaHush.createNoiseSuppression.Route media into the connector, then route denoised media out (PCM16 @ 16 kHz).
Listen to
Hush.NoiseSuppressionEventsandHush.Events.Call
reset()to clear ONNX streaming state;stop()to tear down the session.
Here is a scenario example on how to use it:
Testing
Evaluating denoised audio during a live conversation can be hard, because microphone audio and enhanced playback overlap in realtime, so you cannot reliably hear or compare the result.
To test the noise suppression:
Do not call
call.sendMediaTo(noiseSuppression)in the listen/record test, it mixes your live microphone with the test clip.Use an audio clip with some background noise (office, street, cafe) at 16 kHz mono or let MediaServer resample from MP3.
After
RecorderEvents.Stopped, copy theurlfrom logs and compare with the original file in an audio editor.Use
reset()between replays if you loop the same file in one session.
To test noise suppression with an MP3 resampling, place a call to the application, stay silent (or use mute). You should hear the denoised test clip on the phone. When playback ends, fetch the recording URL from the session log.
