New billing for video calls running via servers

We are happy to announce that currently video calls that go via Voximplant servers (not P2P ones) are billed per megabyte of video traffic. Since the resolution of a video stream can be different (so as fps, video codec and other params) it means that per minute billing was a bad idea for this case – 1 minute of video call generates different load on our infrastructure depending on various parameters. So now the formula for video call going via Voximplant servers looks as follows:

SDK-platform / platform-SDK call – $0.002 per minute per call leg
+ $0.001 per megabyte of video traffic sent to the platform

Phone number connected to IVR

With VoxImplant you can buy a phone number and connect it to IVR built using VoxEngine scenario in minutes. There are 2 ways of buying a phone number – using VoxImplant Control Panel or using HTTP API. After logging into the Control Panel click on the Phone Numbers menu item, you can buy phone number(s) there. Now we can build our simple IVR scenario that will handle incoming calls to this phone number, say something to the caller and record his message.

High quality Text-to-Speech functionality is now available for all VoxImplant developers

Text-to-SpeechWe have finished the integration of TTS functionality with VoxEngine, now developers can specify text that will be converted into speech and sent to a call as an audio stream in 25 languages (for many of the languages you can choose between male and female voice). It will help developers build better cloud IVR, cloud contact center, cloud PBX, and other apps faster and automate a lot of standard interactions with a caller. To learn more about the function please check say function of the Call class and Language namespace in the VoxEngine Reference.

In the near future we will add ASR (automatic speech recognition) function to let developers transcribe call records to text and do real-time speech recognition if required. Let us know if you have any questions and stay tuned!
